Awesome Giveaway

Have you checked out Elle Apparel? If you haven't you should. It is one of the cutest blogs out there. I love watching her come up with different dresses, skirts and tops. She is amazing. I hope to be able to sew clothes for myself as well as she can some day.

Anyways she has just reached 1000 followers and she is doing a giveaway. She is giving away one of her Socialite skirts. They are very cute. Go check it out!

Crib Bedding

I was so excited to get our crib that I wanted to start on the crib set and crib skirt right away. I used Dana Made it's crib sheet tutorial. It was very easy to follow. I used 1/2 inch elastic instead of 1/4 inch and it worked out great. I don't remember who made the fabric but it is a really cute stripe that seems to be oh so popular lately.  I think that I'm going to get a waterproof bed sheet to put under it though just to protect the mattress from blow outs and spitting up.

For the crib skirt I used this tutorial. The tutorial was excellent. It was very easy to follow and I was able to create it exactly like I wanted it to look. I would recommend it for everyone especially beginners. I love the sew 4 home website. They have a lot of fun ideas and free tutorials. I have quite a few of their tutorials on my project to do list.

Itty Bitty Dress

So While I was pregnant with our little girl I came across the itty bitty dress pattern and thought it was SO cute! I made the bigger of the two sizes and it even was a little snug on our 1 week old. Sadly to say that was the only time she wore it. If I ever make another one, which I hope I get around to it, I will enlarge the bodice pattern quite a bit.

Baby boy gift set

please excuse the horrible lighting and the brown carpet. I could only find the point and shoot.

A little bit a go I made this baby boy set for one of my friends that is having a boy in August. I don't have a tutorial for the vest onesie, maybe I might write one sometime. I measured the sides of the onesie and the tops of the shoulders to make my pattern. I sewed the two pieces, one to each side and then sewed the two buttons to them. I used a suiting material I found at D.I. and two gray buttons from Walmart.

For the bow tie I used Lemon Squeezy Home's bow tie
tutorial. I used fusible interfacing instead of fleece or felt. I was fairly pleased with how it turned out but next time that I make them that I will try using the felt because it might make the bow tie look more plump.

For the blanket I measured one of my daughters receiving blankets to figure out how big I wanted it to be. I cut two pieces of fleece to the size and then put them right sides together. I traced around one of our cereal bowls with a marking pen to make the scalloped edge. Each corner is 3/4 around the bowl and the sides are less then 1/2 way around. Then I sewed along the lines leaving a 3 inch hole for turning it. After I finished sewing then I went and trimmed all the way around to remove any excess fabric. I also clipped in between each scallop. I turned it inside out, pressed it and top stitched it making sure to enclose the opening I left for turning.
